Samuel Eto will not go in for the 2025 presidential election in Cameroon. The FECAFOOT president reiterated this words earlier this Friday morning answering to an interview from our colleagues of RFI.
“People attribute intentions to me everywhere I go. In Cameroon, at CAF, at FIFA and everywhere, of which, I have not said anything. People want to hide behind me to realize their ambitions. I wanted to be president of FECAFOOT and I am”. These assertions are from the Cameroon Football Federation president, ace football star Samuel Eto, answering questions from the RFI interview this morning, when he was asked of his ambitions in the 2025 October presidential elections in Cameroon.
It is not the first time that Samuel Eto has been asked by the population or the media if he will vie for the presidential candidacy following the immense popularity and love that he enjoys in and out of the nation. A lot of people think that the former pitchichi will follow the footsteps of the only African Ballon Dor, Liberian born George Weah, but Eto has always disappointed them.
The former indomitable lions’ captain reiterated that he is supporting President Paul Biya’s candidacy and that he will not change. Though the Head of State has not yet confirmed that he will or will not stand for the upcoming presidential elections.
Nevertheless, his partisans have been seen in the resent past clamoring for his candidacy.
