Heavily armed military men are reported to be parading streets of main towns and cities of Chad following the Refusal of main opposition candidate Succes Masra to accept the results of the just ended presidential elections that declares him looser to incumbent transitional president Mahamat Idriss Déby by 18,53 % to 61,03 %.  General Mahamat Deby, second child in a family of six was appointed president of transition in the central African Country with the benediction of France immediately after the demise of his father Idriss Deby Itno in the war front 20th April 2021.

Dr Masra, former student of Oxford University in England and Sorbonne in France, has always been in the opposition even when former President Idris Deby was in power. The former senior staff in the African Development Bank was called from exile earlier in January and made prime minister in the Mahamat Deby’s transitional regime for the sake of social peace. Succes Masra with his Les Transformateurs party had declared himself winner even before the results of the elections where promulgated. This justifies the reasons why uniform men are posted in the streets to prevent public disorder. Already about 10 persons have been reported dead from stray bulettes of guns that were shot in the air by Mahamat Deby’s supporters when they heard of his results.

The Chadian presidential election had a participation rate of 75,89%. Observers think that if they were any irregularities, Masara was supposed to write to the constitutional council instead of making declarations in the air that could put a lot of lives at jeopardy.

Many Africans think that, instead of Cad copying from Senegal that just made history with a very enlightening presidential election, they have chosen tay in the orders of France like Gabon was with the Bongos or Togo with the Eyadema. A democracy that slowly moves to a monarchy

Chad had known a lot of political instability in its history till the arrival of Idris Deby who overthrew Hissene Habre on the 11th of March 1990 with the aid of Libya and France. For decades Chad was known for its numerous military coups going from Ngarta Tombalbaye, Goukouni Weddeye, Hissen Habre to Deby.

However, Mahamat Deby could change the narrative if he decides to see things like leaders of his generation in the likes of  Mamadi Doumbouya og Guinea, Assimi Goita of Mali, Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso or Abdouraman Tchiani of Niger.
