Indomitable lions Captain Aboubakar Vincent interrupted training session Friday afternoon 12 January at their Yamoussoukro base because of a sharp pain at his right lap. Sources close to the communication desk of the national team said that a medical test will be carried out this Saturday morning and the results will be published later in the day to determine whether the active AFCON best goal scorer will continue with the completion or not.
Aboubakar Vincent is presently the most experienced attacker of the Indomitable lions on whom much hope lies. It will be a very hard blow to Coach Rigobert Song and Cameroon as a whole if the medical result confirms that he will watch his team mates play from behind. The 31 year old Besiktas forward with his 100 caps will be playing his 4th (2015,2017,2021 and 2023) continental football fiesta this year in Cote d’Ivoire should his injury be less serious. He has also taken part in 3 world cups with the national selection
Nevertheless, the absence of the Cameroon prolific center forward could pave a way for the discovery of other young talents in the selection like Faris Moubangya and Frank Magri though they are in their first AFCON competition.
