Just 24 hours Cameroon was making a flask back to one of its fallen hero, Mark Vivien Foe who drop dead in the middle of the Gerland stadium, Lyon France, in the semifinal match of the FIFA confederation cup that was pitting Cameroon against Colombia one 26th June, 21 years ago, and here goes another ex-indomitable lion that has fallen again. This time taken by a tragic car accident. Landry Nguemo together with his driver in his Suzuki Vitara jeep was crush this June 27th morning by a speeding truck at the Yaounde – Bafoussam highway.

38 years old Landry Nguemo Tsafak had made 42 appearances with the indomitable lions in 13 years  and had scored 3 goals playing as a defensive midfielder. Born in Yaounde the capital city, Landry was from Dschang in the western region of the country. He did his last appearance for the national team in a match against Brazil in the 2014 world cup in south Africa

His sudden demise in a car accident in the Yaounde – Bafoussam highway, in Obala center region deals a hard blow to many football lovers in Cameroon. Landry Nguemo married and father of 3 kids lived in France and was in Cameroon for vacation where he plaid gala matches with a couple of friends and former team mates like Alexander Song, Jean II Makoun and a host of others. Reactions have been flowing in from all over the place in the publication of the gruesome images on social media of his chartered car as the accident occurred.

The dead of the Cameroon ex international footballer has just come timely to underline the guillotine that our highway roads have become to the citizens. Just two day earlier that another accident in the Dschang cliff, popularly known as LA FALAISE de Dschang, where a transport vehicle went down the valley with 30 people on board, killing 5 and injuring25. Is it not about time that the forces that be got up from slumber to do what it takes for this country to have highways of its era. These roads have been in existence since 60 years. they have become too narrow for the caliber and the flow of vehicles.

Landy Nguemo dead on the 27th of June 2024 at 39 follows the list of ex-indomitable lions that have gone too soon before him, Mark Vivien Foe 28, Valery Mezague 31 and Modest Mbami 41 years old. Hopefully that the list does not continue.
