This long-awaited stage of works began on 9 February 2024 with a workshop for laying the bituminous concrete. CR20, the contractor in charge, has stockpiled a huge quantity of bitumen for this stage.
Works carried out over the last few days involved purging, ordinary excavation, backfilling, technical blocks (backfill adjacent to hydraulic structures), pavement works, in particular laying of the sub-base, the base and sand impregnation, forest clearance and stripping works on the municipal roads to be developed.
As at 9 February 2024, excavation works had already been carried out over 60 km, just as 45.125 km of the platform, 39.275 km of sub-base, 32.5 km of base and 31.500 km of prime coat had been laid as well. It should also be noted that 81 structures have been built on the Ntui-Mankim section, not leaving out access and connecting structures, and many others under way Works on the Ntui-Mankim section of National Road No.15 consist in developing a 60 km-long and 7- m wide stretch with bituminous concrete between Ntui and Ndjolé, including a 1.5 m shoulder on either side of the carriageway.
The pavement structure of National Road No.15 comprises a 30 cm lateritic gravel sub-base, a 0/31.5 crushed graded aggregate base of 20 cm, and a 5 cm bituminous concrete wearing course. The project also includes the construction of 292 locks for hydraulic structures (4.360 LM), 1 engineering structure (80 LM) and the development of 70 km of municipal roads, at a cost of 35,430,081,416 CFA francs including taxes.
